GOWELL Pharmaceutical Adds HACCP and Friend of the Sea Certifications

Summary

  • GOWELL announced HACCP certification for production of polyunsaturated fish oil for export on September 29.
  • A separate Friend of the Sea chain-of-custody certification covers sustainability-related supply-chain controls.

GOWELL Pharmaceutical has announced two certifications for its fish-oil manufacturing and supply-chain operations in China. The company reported HACCP certification on September 29, following a September 24 announcement of Friend of the Sea chain-of-custody certification.

According to GOWELL, the China Quality Certification Centre audited its food-safety system and issued the HACCP certificate for production of polyunsaturated fish oil for export. The assessment covered procurement, storage, processing and distribution, including hazard analysis, critical control points, corrective actions and records.

The company said Control Union conducted the separate Friend of the Sea audit in August, with certification obtained in September. That assessment examined traceability, management systems and other supply-chain controls. Friend of the Sea’s public directory lists Sichuan Gowell Pharmaceutical as active in the omega-3 category, with an expiry date of September 15, 2029.

The certifications address different supplier-assessment requirements: HACCP concerns food-safety process controls, while chain-of-custody certification supports verification of certified sourcing and traceability. GOWELL advises customers to confirm applicability against the certificate scope and combine certification records with product specifications, certificates of analysis and quality-system documentation.
