SuanNutra Localizes Lemon Verbena Supply in Spain

  • Cultivation across farms in Valencia will supply lemon verbena for branded botanical ingredients.
  • The project connects growing protocols, extraction, standardization and final quality testing.

SuanNutra, a nutraceutical ingredient group based in Madrid, Spain, announced on September 30 that it was overseeing lemon verbena cultivation across farms in Valencia. The project supplies the botanical used in ingredients including Metabolaid, RelaxPLX and Elissara, linking agricultural supervision with extraction, standardization and quality testing.

Cultivation is spread across farms and microclimates within the region, with drip irrigation and soil-covering practices intended to retain moisture and improve water efficiency. Specialized nurseries support propagation and plant quality, while growers manage the fields and agronomists guide farming practices alongside the company’s technical and quality teams.

For supplement manufacturers using the resulting extracts, the announced change concerns raw-material sourcing and process control. Leaves are grown under defined protocols, harvested to preserve their botanical profile and dried before extraction. Active compounds are then standardized, and the finished extract is tested against the specifications required for its branded ingredients.

Lemon verbena is native to South America, so the project adapts cultivation to conditions in Spain. Through Gonmisol and Monteloeder, the group combines ingredient sourcing and supply with branded botanical development. Chief commercial officer Stephanie Guillén-Díaz said the coordinated process connects decisions made at the farm with the resulting ingredient’s quality profile.

“We are connecting cultivation, technical supervision, extraction, standardization and quality control into one coordinated model.”
