Total Health Centre Canada Gains NSF Status at 60,000-Sq.-Ft. Site

  • NSF/ANSI 455-2 certification now covers the 60,000-square-foot Mississauga manufacturing and warehouse facility.
  • The audited site produces and packages powders, capsules and liquids for natural health product brands.

Total Health Centre Canada, a Mississauga, Ontario-based contract manufacturer and packaging partner, announced on October 1 that its local facility had earned NSF/ANSI 455-2 Good Manufacturing Practices certification for dietary supplements.

The certification covers a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehouse site with capabilities in encapsulation, extraction, liquid formulation, mixing, packaging and labeling. NSF’s official listing identifies capsules, ingestible liquids, oils and powders among the product categories handled at the facility, alongside quality-unit and warehousing operations. The site also houses an in-house analytical lab and teams covering regulatory affairs and research and development.

For brands using contract manufacturing, the certification provides third-party confirmation that the site’s quality systems and operating controls were audited against a standard that incorporates U.S. dietary supplement GMP requirements and retailer expectations. Its scope includes manufacturing, packaging, warehousing and distribution rather than approval of individual finished products.

The company said it has more than 40 years of experience manufacturing and packaging natural health products. It operates alongside Canadian Analytical Labs and regulatory consultancy MCS Associates within Reena Group. NSF reviewed the Mississauga facility’s documentation and operating controls before adding Reena Group of Companies Inc., doing business as Total Health Centre, to its official listing.

“NSF has independently audited the facility, reviewed the required documentation and verified compliance with the requirements of the standard,”

Chris Kirwin, senior director of wellness at NSF
